Full Name  :  Alan Peter Hayton Date of Birth: 01/04/59  Status : Married, 2 Daughters
Born in Preston, Lancashire living in a district outside of the town called Lea. After attending the local Primary school I attended Ashton-on-Ribble High school, sitting O'Levels.
During my time at the school I developed an interest in fell walking, Youth Hostelling and Rugby Union.
One of my main extra curricular activities was music where I became an accomplished Bass player, playing in the Lancashire Schools Big Band for a number of years.
After leaving Ashton in 1975, I continued the family tradition and went to Lancaster Royal Grammar School to study for A levels in the Sciences. Also continuing to develop my Rugby playing.
Following LRGS, I became a Management Trainee with Courtaulds (1978-80), working for part of the company in Chorley who manufactured polyethylene yarns and coated fabrics.
I joined Preston Grasshoppers RFC in 1977 and played for the club for 9 years.
Four years at Bradford University followed, studying for a degree in Textile Science and Technology. Alongside academic works I played for the University Rugby Club, and was elected as the Universities Athletic Association President, chairing the organisation which ran all the universities sports clubs as well as representing the University on National Sporting bodies.
The third year of the course was spent in industry, spending the year working for a small family textile company in Morecambe. During this period I played rugby for the vale of Lune RUFC.
After graduating I worked for Carrington Viyella Fabrics (1984-1987) in Barrowford - Lancashire, first as a Quality Controller, and later as a Fabric Technologist, developing new innovative products for shirtings and suit fabrics. I had a spell playing Rugby for Calder Vale now Burnley RUFC.
During the period 1989 -1999 I worked for Smith + Nephew – Brierfield, Lancashire as a Technical  Projects, Production & Development Manager. Developing a range of Medical Fabrics. In other roles in the company I developed a stock control system and database, as well as manageing a production unit. I attended Blackburn College on day release to study for the postgraduate diploma in Management Studies.
As the business was moving more and more out of the core business and area, I took redundancy and applied to St Martins College in Lancaster to study for a PGCE in ICT.
In 2000 saw the family relocating to the East Riding of Yorkshire, as I took up a teaching post at Hessle High School.
In 2015 I left teaching to become a Driving Instructor, and in 2016 returned to teaching in schools, carrying out long term placements.
